1 min read

Canterbury Police are appealing for partygoers at a house in Champion St in the Edgeware suburb of Christchurch overnight to contact them.

Emergency services were alerted to the house fire at around 12.55am this morning (1 February 2015).

Canterbury Police can confirm that no-one was injured in the fire and no-one was trapped in the house.

Detective Sergeant James Simpson says “Canterbury Police and Fire Service investigators will start an examination of the scene today.  It is too early in the investigations to determine what started the fire but we are keen to hear from anyone who was at the party at around the time of the fire or lived in the vicinity.”

Police and Fire Service investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.

If you were still at the party at around 1.30-1.45am, or you know someone who was, please contact Christchurch Police Station on 03 363 7400 as you may be able to provide information that will assist with the Police investigation.

Information can also be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
