Waitemata Police can advise that the person located in waters off the Bethells/O'Neills Beach peninsula on Monday morning has now been identified.
The body has been confirmed as that of missing swimmer, Johnny Perese Faitaua, 24 years-old of Glen Eden.
Police, including Pacific Liaison staff and Victim Support are supporting the Faitaua family.
Mr Faitaua's death will now be referred to the Coroner.
