Police are looking for information on a young boy who was dropped at the Manukau Work and Income office yesterday afternoon.
At around 2:20pm, a man entered the building and handed the boy to staff members and then left without providing any further details.
The boy was taken to Middlemore Hospital to be checked and he is in good health. His aged is estimated to be around 20 months old.
He was wearing white t-shirt, above the knee faded black denim shorts and no shoes. He had a nappy on. He was also left with a bag with some other belongings, including a pair of shorts, another t-shirt and two long-sleeved tops (bag and its contents pictured).
Inspector Bruce O’Brien of Counties Manukau Central Police says that the boy is currently being cared for by Child, Youth and Family social workers.
“While the child is currently being cared for, we have not been contacted by anyone in relation to a missing child. We would like family of the boy or anyone who knows his identity to contact Police as soon as possible.”
Anyone who recognises the child in the photo, or the man pictured in the CCTV image is asked to call 111 immediately or Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Ellwood of Manurewa CIB on 09 261 1300. To provide information anonymously contact the organisation Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
