Canterbury Police arrested and charged a 26 year old man when they stopped a vehicle believed to have been carrying drugs on SH1 Main North Road in Woodend at approximately 3.15pm today.

Police set up an armed road block on SH1 in Woodend and used road spikes to stop the black Mazda ute as it travelled north on the state highway.  The vehicle was stopped without incident and the two occupants of the car, a man and a woman, were taken into Police custody.

The passenger, a 26 year old man, will appear in Christchurch District Court tomorrow (13 December 2014) on drugs related charges including Possession of Methamphetamine for Supply.

The female driver has been released without charge.

A quantity of methamphetamine was recovered from the vehicle and tests are also being conducted on what is believed to be LSD which was located at the same time.
