Police investigating fatal quad bike incident

Tararua Police attended a rural property this morning in Dannevirke where a male farm worker died after the quad bike he was riding rolled down a slope.

Police was notified at approximately 7:20am after the man's colleagues discovered the rolled quad bike on the farm. They had earlier become worried about the time he had been gone on his morning duties and went looking for him.

CPR was initiated and ambulance attended however the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police has launched an investigation and is working closely with WorkSafe NZ.

Officers are continuing to speak to witnesses and a scene examination has now been completed.

The death has now been referred to the Coroner.

Police will not release any further details about the man until formal ID is complete and next of kin has been informed.
