Police have worked today to secure and recover the body of a 32 year old male and a white Toyota Corolla vehicle on Paekakariki Hill Road. Early indications are that the injuries sustained are inconsistent with a vehicle crash so Police are treating the death as suspicious.
The body of the 32 year old male will be removed from the scene later this afternoon and a post mortem examination to confirm the injuries is likely to be completed tomorrow morning. The vehicle has now been removed and will undergo forensic examination by ESR scientists.
Kapiti-Mana Area Commander Inspector Paul Basham says "Police want to hear from anyone who has seen anything unusual in the Paekakariki Hill Road area since 10.00pm last night and 6.00am this morning. We are also urging anyone who has seen the white 1993 Toyota Corolla hatchback vehicle, registration RZ1852, anytime in the last 24 hours."
A scene examination will be continuing for the remainder of the day and the road is likely to be closed overnight and tomorrow morning.
Police and Victim Support are supporting the man's family and his name will not be released until the process of formally identifying the body is complete.
