Canterbury Police have located the body of a deceased male this morning in the Brooklands suburb of Christchurch.
The body has been formally identified as that of 64 year old Peter (Pita) TANGIRA who was last seen at approximately 6pm last Thursday (6 November 2014) at Brookhaven Rest Home in Ferrymead.
Next of kin have been informed and offered Victim Support.
The death has been referred to the Coroner, who will make a determination as to the cause of death.
Police would like to thank the media and members of the public who have contacted them with information and possible sightings of the missing man.
