Police have arrested a 21 year old man in relation to a reported firearms incident in the Papanui area of Christchurch this afternoon.
Police were alerted to someone using a firearm in their back garden just after 3pm this afternoon. A cordon was put in place and diversions and road closures were in force for a short time while Canterbury AOS attended and cleared the scene. A number of air rifles were seized and the man has been arrested.
Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
