1 min read

At around 1.30pm this afternoon Charles DAVIS was arrested without incident by Hutt Valley Police after the Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) searched an address in the eastern Hutt Valley.  DAVIS had been sought by police after a man was shot at a Lower Hutt address early on Friday morning suffering wounds to his hand and scalp.

Hutt Valley acting Area Commander, Inspector Shane Cotter, says "The arrest was as a result of information received from the public. I want to thank the public for their assistance over the last few days. We are pleased to have this matter resolved so quickly. I can reassure the public that their safety is of paramount concern to police and we take this type of offending very seriously."

Police are continuing to undertake a scene examination at the Harley Grove address. It is understood that the victim of the shooting has been discharged from hospital after surgery. Further inquires and searches will continue over the coming days in relation to this matter. It is expected that DAVIS will appear in the Hutt Valley District Court tomorrow morning facing charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and further charges are being considered.
