Alcohol sachets dismay

1 min read

Inspector Ben Offner, Police Alcohol Harm Prevention Manager, says he is "dismayed" to see alcohol being sold in sachets.

"We're exploring our options on how we can influenece their availability."

He says it's disturbing that the product is clearly directed at young people.

"Our young people have an infatuation with intoxication - they drink to get drunk. But when you can't make sound decisions, or you fall over and hit your head, that's when the fun stops and the harm begins. We, as a community, should be helping young people make sensible decisions around alcohol, not finding ways for them to get around the law."
