During the morning of Thursday 18th of July 2013, Porirua Police charged a 28 year old Porirua man with Demanding with Intent to Steal, Burglary and Possession of an Offensive Weapon.
He has appeared in the Porirua District Court today and been remanded in custody.
At approximately 8:00pm on Friday, 12th of July 2013, residents of a Porirua home received a knock at the door. On opening the door they found four patched Porirua Mongrel Mob members who forced their way in.
They falsely accused the residents of being involved in a driving incident.
They then started to walk about the house, stole electrical equipment and demanded money.
On Wednesday, 18th of July 2013, members of the Porirua Criminal Investigation Branch, the Wellington Armed Offenders' Squad, located one offender and two associates who were charged with drug related charges.
Enquiries are continuing to locate the outstanding offenders and Police are following strong lines of enquiry.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mike OXNAM applauds the courage of these residents.
‘I am aware that these thuggish, brutal tactics of taxing by the Mongrel Mob goes largely unreported in our community.
I strongly encourage any other victims of this type of offending to come forward. Their safety is our paramount consideration and Police are committed to investigating and policing all forms of serious violence, which this incident is.’
