Waitara Police are appealing for information from the public relating to an aggravated robbery at a local dairy yesterday evening (Sunday, 14 July).
The incident happened at around 6:30pm at the High Street Dairy in High Street West, Waitara.
There were two employees behind the shop counter when a man entered the dairy. The man had a black cloth concealing the lower half of his face and was wearing dark clothing with a distinctive patterned hoodie.
Detective Mike Thorne of the Waitara CIB says that the male offender produced an imitation firearm, removed money from the till and asked for tobacco from the employees.
"The offender has helped himself to the money in the till and has also filled his backpack up with tobacco products. While this was happening he lifted up his hoodie and flashed what we believe to be a small black imitation pistol or handgun at one of the employees" says Detective Thorne.
The offender then exited the dairy and turned left onto High Street and then left again onto Browne Street. Following this the dairy employees contacted Police.
Below are CCTV images of the offender. He is described as tall and solidly built. He is wearing a distinctive hoodie with large yellow, white, and green banded stripes, along with black jeans or trousers, white hi-cut basketball type sneakers, and a dark grey/charcoal backpack with a rounded top.
"We are appealing to the public to help us identify the offender and we encourage anyone who may have information relevant to our investigation to contact us. This includes anyone who saw a man matching the description in the High and Browne Street areas between 6:30-7pm yesterday," says Detective Thorne.
