A bank card stolen during one of yesterday's robberies of elderly people was used in a Pt Chevalier bank at about 10.40, shortly after a 79 year-old woman was accosted in her nearby Westmere home.

Police have retrieved photos [see attached] of the man who used the stolen card and want to know who he is and where he can be located.

He is Maori or Polynesian of medium to solid build and has a distinctive tattoo on his left arm. When he used the card in the bank he had attempted to obscure his identity by draping a white tee shirt over a red cap on his head.

He was also wearing dark trousers and a light-coloured tee shirt with a one word brand name written across the front.

"We believe this man is key to our investigation and anyone who recognises him needs to do the right thing to prevent further trauma to our elderly citizens," Detective Inspector Scott Beard says.

Anyone who has information about this person is urged to contact Police urgently on 09 524 1920 or call 111. Anonymous callers can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
