West Coast fire not suspicious

Police and fire investigators have established that the fire in a shed on a property at Kaniere, south of Hokitika, early on Saturday morning is not suspicious and a scene examination points to an electrical fault causing the fire.

One person died in the fire.

Police believe the deceased to be Benjamin Graham McBRIDE, aged 25, however due to the severity of the fire it is expected that formal identification will take a number of days to complete and will involve DNA testing.
