Christchurch Police hope a television reconstruction of a Linwood dairy robbery earlier this month will help to identify the knife-wielding offender.
The attempted robbery of the Woodham Road dairy on Monday 18 March will feature on crime show Police Ten 7 tomorrow evening (Thursday 28 March, 7.30pm on TV2).
Viewers will be taken through a reconstruction of the incident, in which a man carrying a knife man entered the dairy at around 8.25pm and demanded money from two staff.
The offender was only in the store for about 30 seconds, and left in hurry, empty-handed, says Detective Sergeant Joel Syme.
"Any incident where a weapon involved is particularly nasty and distressing for the victims," he says. "In this case it was fortunate that nobody was injured - but we want to make sure this offender is located and apprehended.
"It's likely someone knows who this offender is - and we hope the Police Ten 7 programme will prompt people to come forward with information."
The offender is described as a male Caucasian, aged in his mid-20s, approximately 182cm (6 ft) tall and of medium build.
He was reported to be wearing a black leather jacket with a hood, blue jeans, a black bandana with white markings, and sunglasses.
"If anyone knows this man or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, please contact police as soon as possible," says Detective Sergeant Syme.
