A man was to appear in the Christchurch District Court this morning in connection with a serious assault in Linwood yesterday [Sunday 10 June].
The 52-year old Christchurch man was arrested overnight and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Detective Senior Sergeant Corrie Parnell says the victim, a 41-year old female, remains in a critical condition at Christchurch hospital.
The scene examination at the Worcester Street property where the incident occurred is continuing today.
Police are also continuing to seek information on the movements of a car believed to be involved in the incident, a green Toyota Camry sedan, registration number ST 8323.
"We have received a couple of calls from members of the public with information sightings of the vehicle, but would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle on Saturday or Sunday."
