A man is appearing in court today after more than 800 cannabis plants were found growing in a garage in Dannevirke.
As a result of information from the public, police in Dannevirke yesterday executed a search warrant at an address in Otope Road.
At the address they discovered a sophisticated growing room set up in a garage. In the room were 699 seedlings and 164 more mature plants. If all the plants were grown to full maturity and then harvested, the estimated street value is anywhere between $500,000 and $2.5 miliion.
A 28-year-old Dannevirke man was arrested and is appearing at Palmerston North District Court today.
Detective Sergeant Graham Perks said: “This demonstrates the value of public assistance in solving crime. If anyone has any information about drug cultivation, production and supply we encourage them to make contact with us or phone Crimestoppers.”
