Post mortem today on woman found in ditch

1 min read

A post mortem will be held later today to determine the cause of death of a woman who was found in a roadside ditch near Napier yesterday.

Gillian Dawn Reynolds, 47, of Bay View, was found dead in a ditch alongside Main North Road in the township of Bay View.

Her body was discovered by a cyclist on the highway late yesterday morning near the intersection with Rogers Rd.

Police are appealing for sightings of the woman, who was seen on Tuesday night in the Bay View village with a black short-haired dog.

Detective Sergeant Daryl Moore said the woman had no visible signs of injury and the post mortem should help police determine how she died.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the woman in the Bay View township on Tuesday evening or may know anything about her movements that night. It's important that we talk to anyone who knows anything about how she may have died," Mr Moore said.

Anyone with information about Ms Reynolds should contact Napier police on 06 8310700.
