Auckland City Eastern Area Police want to hear from anyone who has had a piece of gold jewellery stolen in the last six months to a year.
Last month Police located a quantity of jewellery that is believed to have been stolen. Senior Sergeant Hirone Waretini says the rightful owners may be missing items of financial and/or sentimental value.
"I am convinced the items we recovered belong to a victim or victims of crime who would be very keen to be reunited with them."
Mr Waretini says that anyone who has had an item of jewellery stolen or missing, that looks similar to the items pictured, can come to the Mt Wellington Police Station on Friday, October 14 2011, between 12pm and 2pm.
In order to be able to view the property, claimants must have a copy of a Police Complaint Acknowledgment Form or other document which would have been issued by Police when the theft was reported and which confirms an offence took place, as well as photographic identification.
Property will only be returned to a person who can prove unequivocally that it belongs to them. This can be done by means of photograph, inscription or proof of sale that identifies the item. The property must have been adequately described in the Police file.
