Police have praised the behaviour of the crowd who attended the Scotland v Romania match held at Rugby Park Stadium in Invercargill this afternoon.
The large crowd was well-behaved, Southland Area Commander, Inspector Lane Todd said.
"From a Police perspective we were very pleased with the way the event went," said Inspector Todd.
There were no arrests at the game. Two people were warned for intoxication and left the grounds of their own accord.
St John treated three people at the game for minor medical matters.
Invercargill Police were also anticipating a busy evening in the city as fans enjoyed post-match celebrations.
Plans were in place to cope with any eventualities that might arise, Inspector Todd said.
"We are encouraging people to enjoy themselves, keeping themselves and those around them safe," Inspector Todd said.
Police are anticipating that the roads between Invercargill and Dunedin will be very busy this afternoon as rugby fans travel north on State Highway One to Dunedin to attend the Argentina v England match being held there this evening.
"Police have additional road policing staff on duty and we encourage people to drive safely within the speed limit and be respectful of other drivers," Inspector Todd said.
Outward traffic flows from Invercargill to Western Southland were also expected to be greater.
