Two people are facing drugs charges after police located a clan lab near Kerikeri yesterday.
A 46-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man will be facing charges of importing ephedrine and manufacturing and supplying methamphetamine.
Following the examination of the clan lab today, police also found cannabis, a firearm and $5000 cash.
An indoor cannabis growing operation was also found at a neighbouring house.
A boat belonging to one of the offenders was also searched on the Whangärei Harbour. Police located cannabis and a firearm during the search.
Several other people are facing minor drugs charges as a result of yesterday's searches. These charges include possessing cannabis and utensils and the cultivation of cannabis.
The investigation also focused on the importation of objectionable digital images including child pornography.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rhys Johnston says the operation came about through the sharing of information and intelligence between Police and New Zealand Customs.
Mr Johnston says Police appreciated the input of Customs staff, particularly with their excellent technical and search abilities.
New Zealand Customs Manager of Investigations Mark Day says New Zealand Customs intercepted a significant quantity of ephedrine tablets at the border that are connected to the two individuals being charged.
"Our valued inter-agency relationship with police has allowed us to apprehend the offenders and prevent these drugs from being sold on our streets."
Under the Government's "Tackling Methamphetamine: an Action Plan", one of the actions involves New Zealand Customs and Police working together to disrupt the illegal importation of pseudoephedrine - a precursor in the manufacture of methamphetamine.
"Police will use all resources available to tackle the manufacture and supply of illicit drugs to reduce the harm caused by drugs and make our communities safer," says Mr Johnston.
