A post-mortem examination carried out on the body of a man found dead in an area of road construction in north-east Hamilton yesterday has determined the death was not suspicious.

Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall of the Waikato CIB said the examination, carried out in Auckland this morning, had revealed the 83-year-old died of natural causes.

"At this point Waikato Police would like to thank all the members of the public who assisted us with our enquiries, particularly the road construction contractors who offered invaluable assistance to our team.

"Investigators have established the man's identity and his death will now be reported to the Coroner."
