Two men who were part of a wider group wanted in connection with the aggravated robbery of a Hamilton home last month got more than they bargained for when passing the City's Police station today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton of the Hamilton CIB said three men and two women had allegedly entered a Fox St address armed with a steel bar and a handgun and stolen a laptop computer, cell phone and wallet on 24 November.

"As a result of our enquiries we had identified persons of interest and were in the process of planning to carry out a search of an Ulster St property when we became aware the pair were travelling close to the station.

"With the assistance of the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad the pair were taken into custody in a short operation that merely required them being removed from their and walked across the road to the station which was done before many of those nearby were aware what had happened."

Mr Thornton said a short time later the Ulster St home was searched and a number of people from that address are currently being interviewed by Police.
