A woman is facing serious charges following an incident at Hamilton's Frankton Markets this morning.

Sergeant Dale Smith of the City's Proactive Policing Team said officer's attending reports of a home invasion on nearby Seddon Rd were called to an incident at the markets about 7am.

"At first we though the two incidents were linked but it was established in the later incident our offender was a woman who had stolen a stall holder's bum-bag while he was setting up his stall.

"The victim followed the woman and saw his bag in her car, he leaned over on the bonnet to try and stop her leaving but she accelerated away with him on top of the car, he was thrown off a short distance later, somewhat shaken."

Realising the game was up the woman surrendered herself at the Hamilton Central Police Station a short time later and has been charged with theft and aggravated assault.
