The New Zealand Police Museum in collaboration with the Road Policing Group at Police National Headquarters is celebrating the history of road policing in New Zealand by opening two new exhibits about Road Policing and how Police investigate serious crashes.

The Museum, housed at The Royal NZ Police College, will welcome invited guests on 17 August where the exhibition will be opened by Deputy Commissioner Rob Pope. Other guests include National Manager: Road Policing, Superintendent Paula Rose as well as representatives from NZTA (NZ Transport Agency), ACC, and city councillors from Wellington and Porirua.

New objects on display include a car involved in a serious accident, Hawk radar technology, a 1969 Alcotest breathalyser as well as road safety education items like road patrol badges and books. There is a fun reaction tester (used to test the reactions of potential MOT Traffic Officers) for everyone to try and beat the top score.

The museum will hold a series of events from 18 - 21 August, including opportunities to look inside a booze bus, a lecture from the Serious Crash Unit and Safe2Go Clinics. ACC and Drive Safe Porirua are also supporting the events.

On Friday 20th August, schools from all over Porirua will be bussed to the museum for some road safety themed fun!
