A 38-year-old man is appearing in the Henderson District Court this afternoon on three charges arising out of a firearms incident in West Auckland on Sunday night.
He's been charged with burglary, assault and using a firearm against a law enforcement officer.
The man, who was shot and injured during an armed confrontation with police, has undergone surgery in Middlemore Hospital for arm, hand and abdominal injuries.
Detective Inspector Mark Gutry, officer in charge of the investigation into the incident, said the man was now well enough to be released from hospital to attend court.
The scene examination of the Nikau Street property has been completed, and the house has been released to residents.
"There's been a good response with information from people who were in the area in the time leading up to the confrontation," Detective Inspector Gutry said.
