1 min read

Christchurch Police have released the names of three members of a Korean family whose bodies were found at their Russley home in the city yesterday morning.

They were Sung Eun CHO, aged 43 years, and her daughters Yeon Jae BAEK, aged 17 years, (known as Holly) and Yeon Sue BAEK 13 years (known as Kelly)

Detective Senior Sergeant Virginia Le Bas, Christchurch CIB, said Kelly and Holly were pupils of St Andrews College in the city.

Post Mortem examinations have been completed today and the deaths have been referred to the coroner.

"Police have been working with the Korean Embassy to notify next of kin in South Korea," Detective Senior Sergeant Le Bas said. "Other family members will be travelling to New Zealand in the next few days.

"We have also been in contact with friends and associates of the women both in Korea and New Zealand.

"I can't comment on the circumstances of the deaths as this is now a coronial matter. Clearly however family and friends are distressed by what has happened and support is being provided to them."
