The officer who was stabbed in the early hours of yesterday morning is enjoying days off to recover, says Detective Sergeant Michael Earl.
"He has finished night shift so will have the next few days off to get some rest," he says.
A 24 year old man is still in Christchurch Hospital recovering from surgery for leg wounds yesterday. DS Earl says police have still to speak to him but he will be charged with Aggravated Burglary, with further charges to be laid once he has been interviewed.
Police dog Koal and his handler are also recovering well and will now enjoy a month's leave which had been previously arranged.
