Hamilton stabbing release 3

Police investigating the suspicious death of a Hamilton man on Friday night continue to make steady progress as the enquiry focuses on forensic examinations.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris PAGE said a post mortem was carried out yesterday on the victim, a 46-year-old man.

"The exact cause of death will be determined by the Coroner in the near future however in consultation with her I can confirm the examination located a fatal stab wound," said Mr Page.

The dead man has been identified as Nigel Les McQUEEN of Hamilton.

Mr Page said the current focus of the inquiry was Police and forensic specialists completing the scene examination of the Catalina Dr property where Mr McQUEEN'S body was found and of a the vehicle recovered on Mahoe St on Saturday.

"We're now focussed on reconstructing the events that led to Mr McQUEEN'S death.

"Detectives are working on positive lines of enquiry," he said.
