Fatal crash near Cambridge

Waikato Serious Crash Unit investigators are at the scene of a fatal crash outside Cambridge this afternoon that claimed the life of one person and seriously injured another. Initial indications are the crash, which happened about 200m from the intersection of SH1 and Racecourse Rd, occurred when a car clipped a truck then collided with another car. While details are still unclear at this time the deceased is not thought to have been from the vehicle that initially struck the truck. The truck driver is shaken but unhurt. SH1 north of Cambridge remains closed while investigators carry out their preliminary investigations. Diversions are in place and sign posted. Today's crash brings the Waikato District's road toll to 28 compared to 29 for the same period last year. End
