Huntly man hunt

1 min read

Huntly Police are currently searching the town seeking a man, believed armed with a shotgun, following a domestic dispute.

Western Waikato Area Commander, Inspector Russell Le Prou, said Police were seeking Hone NEAL, 23, after he allegedly assaulted his wheelchair bound partner on Friday.

The victim is currently receiving the appropriate support following her ordeal.

"Following Friday's incident the partner was moved to a place of safety and yesterday officers were called NEAL'S home after he was seen with what appeared to be a shotgun but he had left in a car by the time officers arrived.

"As a result of this the Waikato Armed Offenders Squad was called to assist with the search for NEAL and the car was located at a Leather St address however he had already fled and the home backs on to a reserve.

"Patrols, including the use of Police Dogs continued the search in the town throughout the night and a number of sightings were reported but thus far he has eluded our staff."

Mr Le Prou warned people not to approach NEAL, and advised if anyone saw him to phone 111 immediately.

He is described as a 23-year-old male Maori with a shaven head, 176cm tall and of medium build.
