Detective Inspector Steve Wood of the Waitemata District CIB says he is proud of the immense level of commitment demonstrated by all police personnel involved in the current search for Xin Xin Ma.
"There is a large team of investigators involved and their meticulous professionalism is achieving results. Each and every one of them is totally committed," he said.
"I fully appreciate and understand why there is such a strong public interest in knowing the intricate details of this investigation, but equally I ask everyone to recognise that the number one priority for police is the safety of Xin Xin which we will not compromise."
"This is why I have sought and received a level of cooperation and patience. I would like this to continue in the understanding that when I am able to publicly provide additional information I will certainly do so."
"Your positive response and support has resulted in us following through on several lines of positive enquiry. I urge you to continue providing any information that you consider may be valuable to police."
"The family equally want all New Zealand to know that they too have been overwhelmed by the expressions of public concern for the safety of Xin Xin conveyed to them. They remain confident they will be reunited with their daughter," Inspector Wood said.
