Road reopens at Petone fatal crash scene

1 min read

The scene of a fatal road crash at Petone this evening has been reopened.

Inspector Richard Chambers, Lower Hutt Police Area Commander, said traffic is still heavily congested in the area. Although the roundabout at the Hutt Road and Petone Esplanade has reopened traffic delays in the Petone area are expected for another hour or so.

Inspector Chambers said police are still in the process of trying to find the family of the 57-year-old male cyclist who died at the scene.

He said police are speaking with witnesses including the driver of the articulated truck and trailer unit involved in the crash.
