A 46 year old man has been arrested for a hit and run incident in Matakana.
The incident happened at midnight last Wednesday night. A 41 year old female was walking on Govan Wilson Road at Matakana, north of Auckland when she was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle did not stop.
Detective Kevin Blackman of the Rodney CIB says police went to Matakana late yesterday afternoon and arrested the man.
"He will appear in the North Shore District Court on Thursday charged with failing to stop to ascertain injury after an injury crash."
"Further charges are likely," he said.
"A vehicle has also been seized for an immediate forensic examination."
"The victim who has serious injuries is presently stable in Auckland Hospital."
"Police intend to speak to her as soon as her condition improves," Kevin Blackman said.
