A 62 year-old man died in Mt Wellington at about 9.25 this morning when a 1.9 tonne concrete slab fell on him.
The man, Faialaga Tamielu of Mangere, was working at a construction site on Lunn Ave when the tragedy happened.
Occupational Safety and Health and Police are investigating the death.
