Henderson Police say the sexual violation and abduction of a 28 year old female in Glen Eden early yesterday is one where residents of the Glen Eden area can ably assist Police.
Detective Sergeant Megan GOLDIE says that at 3.00am on Sunday morning 22 April 2007, a man approached a stationary vehicle in which the female victim was sleeping. The vehicle was parked in Woodglen Road, Glen Eden.
"The man tapped on the window of the car waking up the victim. Thinking it was someone whom she knew she unlocked the driver's door of the vehicle. The man produced a knife and forced her to move into the passenger front seat. He then drove the victim around the Kelston and New Lynn areas, prior to driving to a local Rugby League club, where he sexually violated her."
"The victim has shown enormous courage, and provided a detailed description of the offender. He is believed to be Polynesian, less than 25 years of age with a number One haircut. He's about 5'8" tall, of average build and is clean shaven. He was wearing a brown hoody jacket with white patches on the front, green camouflage pants to his knees, white ankle socks with blue jandals."
"This man also has a large eye shaped tattoo with a tribal pattern which covers the outside of his left thigh. Someone will know this unique style of tattoo, so they will have vital information that will assist Police in advancing this investigation."
"We want this person arrested before he offends again. The manner of this attack suggests that the offender may know Glen Eden, Titirangi, and the rugby league club locality very well. The victim is obviously distressed by her ordeal, and is receiving strong support from family, friends and others," Megan GOLDIE said.
