A 41-year-old Carterton man has been arrested and charged with six firearms related offences following an investigation into a shot being fired at a Carterton policeman's home last Thursday night.
Detective Sergeant Mark McHattie, head of Wairarapa Area CIB, says the man will be appearing in the Masterton District Court this morning.
He has been charged with:

• carrying a firearm with the intention to commit a crime
• discharging a firearm at a dwelling house so as to endanger property and or frighten a person
• unlawful possession of a firearm.
Detective Sergeant McHattie praised the Wairarapa community for their help in the investigation.
"A substantial amount of information has come from members of the public," he says. "There's been a groundswell of support for police and for Constable Peter Cunningham and that has been very much appreciated.
"The arrest is a relief for Peter and his family," Detective Sergeant McHattie says. "The arrest may also encourage others to come forward to the CIB in Masterton with information about what took place last Thursday night."
