Auckland City Police have cordoned off eight properties in Shackleton Rd, Mt Eden, after a woman's body was discovered there at about 5pm.
Police were called to the scene shortly before 5pm by a man who is now helping them with inquiries into her death.
Little is known about the identity of the dead woman at this point.
A homicide investigation has been set up and the officer in charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Gerry Whitley, said a full scene examination will get underway tomorrow.
