North Shore Police are investigating allegations of fraud with fictitious jobs being offered using well known company names in Auckland.
Detective Constable Peter Law of Glenfield CIB says, "There appears to be a pattern with people responding to advertisements in Chinese publications. Two interviews take place and then the applicant is offered a fictitious job. A fee of $3500 is paid with a promise that it is refundable if things do not work out," says Detective Law.
Other common features include:
the email address, "thesauce@xtra.co.nz."
interviews at the ASB Building in central Auckland
claims of being representatives of Deloitte and Microhard at interviews.
a jobs start date of July 5 2004
the offer of work permits for an additional fee
