Two young men were accosted and forced to withdraw money from an ATM at a service station in the early hours of this morning.
At about 1.20am the two 17/18 year olds were in the toilets of the Bush Inn BP service station when they were accosted and beaten by two slightly older males.
Constable Logan Steele from Hornby Police says they were then threatened with further beatings unless they withdrew money from the ATM which was right next to the toilets. This they did and a sum of money was handed over.
The two alleged offenders are described as both male polynesians around 18- 19 years old.
One is described as around 165 - 170 cm tall, solid build with a chubby face. He was wearing a white hooded sweat shirt, a white baseball cap with a mesh back and tan or beige trousers.
The other was slightly taller at 170- 175 cm, medium build with bushy black hair to collar length. He was wearing a black jacket, a white T shirt and light blue jeans.
Constable Steele says that the two victims could have been followed from the Bush Bar across to the BP station.
"If any one saw the two alleged offenders either in the bar or across at BP could they please contact me ," he asks. "Also any one at the Bush Inn BP station which is on Riccarton Road about this time or anyone with any information that might help us."
