Police will not be charging anyone following an incident in Wellington late last week between MP Winston Peters and a local taxi driver.
Inspector Marty Grenfell, Wellington Area Controller, said police have completed their investigation and will be taking no further action. The decision has been communicated to both parties.
"The complaint from a taxi driver was investigated by a senior officer," Mr Grenfell said. "All parties were spoken to, explanations received and considered.
"Police are satisfied no criminal offence took place and we will not be taking the matter further."
An apology from Mr Peters to the taxi driver has been conveyed through police, expressing regret for the incident.
