The man Police believe died after being attacked in his St Mary’s Bay home was 55 year-old William David McNee, usually know as David.

Officer in charge of the inquiry into his death, Detective Senior Sergeant Lance Burdett, said a post-mortem had revealed Mr McNee received head injuries after being bashed.

&#34We don’t know when he died but it was sometime between Sunday and Tuesday evening when he was discovered by Police who had been called to his Hackett St home,&#34 he said. &#34Neighbours were concerned that his dogs were, unusually, barking inside the house.

&#34We’ve had ESR scientists and our own forensic staff at the scene today and they’ll remain there until the scene examination is finished sometime in the next few days.

&#34Police recovered his vehicle -- a black Audi TT sports car -- in Bowen Ave in the city late last night. That too is being examined to see what clues it reveals about Mr McNee’s killer or killers.&#34

It’s understood Mr McNee was the sole owner/occupant of his home. His two Basset Hound dogs were removed by Animal Control officers and taken to a local pound last night.

Police do not know if anything was stolen from the house but said there was no sign of a forced break-in.

&#34Mr McNee’s body was found on the floor in his bedroom,&#34 Mr Burdett said. &#34We’re obviously interested in hearing from anyone who might have seen any unusual people in the Hackett St area between Sunday and Tuesday evening.

&#34We’d also like to hear from anyone who saw his car, registration number AJB532 being driven in or around the city at any point over those few days.&#34
