The 2023 Police Dog Trust calendar is out now, featuring some of our greatest canine crime fighters and wannabe police pups as you've never seen them before.
Back by popular demand, the calendar includes 43 show-stopping images of our German Shepherds and labradors by 10 of our full-time and relieving police forensic photographers from across the country.
Making history as the first detector dog team to grace the calendar's cover are Tāmaki Makaurau's Arc and handler Senior Constable Shep Shepherd, thanks to Constable Joy Zhang's beautiful photo of them sharing a beachside moment.
Foster pup Guya is a winner already – earning photographer Senior Constable Jane Dunn her fifth top photo prize in seven years of the Police Dog Trust calendar.
Inside, it's hard not to smile at Senior Constable Jane Dunn’s winning image of young labrador floof Guya in flight as well as lots of other pups at play, but there are plenty of great action shots of patrol dogs from different operational and training environments too.
And if a monthly dose of new doggy delights isn't enough, there's a bonus double-sided A3 poster to enjoy all year round - and beyond.
On one side, Tauranga patrol dog Chip is poised and ready for action, as captured by Senior Constable Jane Dunn. On the other, you'll find Senior Constable Karl Bevin's creative set-up to show a whole new side to Tāmaki Makaurau patrol dog Iwa.
Inspector Todd Southall, National Coordinator Police Dogs, says the 2023 Police Dog Trust calendar is another stunner, reflecting the talents, creativity and patience of our ‘pupperazzi’.
“The calendar isn’t possible without the support from those behind the lens, and the many fans who recognise the end product makes a pawfect Christmas gift.”
This year's calendar will have a limited print run, so get in quick. The calendars are $20 each and available through The Cop Shop. Shipping is $5-$9 for up to nine calendars, or free on online orders over $200. For international orders email sales@thecopshop.nz.
All proceeds from the calendars sales will go toward the New Zealand Police Dog Charitable Trust, which helps give extra support to Police dog breeding, research and development programmes, over and above New Zealand Police's investment in the Police Dog Section.
