Counties Manukau police are continuing to process the seven shipping containers of stolen property recovered following search warrants in Pukekohe last month.
On November 23, police staff searched two addresses and found the seven shipping containers along with trailer loads of stolen property at another address.
Counties Manukau South Acting Area Commander Inspector Mark Rowbottom says police have identified property stolen from across Auckland between Whenuapai to Waiuku and from the South Island.
“As I am sure the public can appreciate, we are still working our way through the high number of items we have found. We have already contacted a number of relieved victims to tell them we have identified their property and arranged to get it back to them.”
“Please be aware that police cannot let people come and view the stolen items if they have not made a report to police or who do not have serial numbers or specific identifying features,” says Inspector Rowbottom.
You can make a report by calling or visiting your local police station.
“The staff have done an excellent job in recovering these items and we now hope that we will be able to return all of it to its rightful owners. Burglary and theft is a serious crime that hugely impacts victims, especially if means they cannot carry out their work due to their tools being stolen,” says Inspector Rowbottom.
“This is a reminder to all members of our community of the importance of recording serial numbers for all of your property, whether that be work tools or electronic items such as laptops and cellphones. It is vital that police can easily identify who stolen property belongs to when we recover it, so that we can get it back to its rightful owners.”

Police are currently speaking with a 52-year-old man in relation to the stolen property and cannot rule out the possibility of charges being laid.
