Police have today released the name of the person who is believed to have died in a fire in the early hours of Thursday morning near Karangarua in Westland.
At this time Police believe the deceased is likely to be the resident of the property Maxie William Furgson DUNCAN, aged 77. It will be some time before a positive identification can be made.
Police and Fire Service staff have been conducting a scene examination and it is hoped that will be completed today. Police are also speaking to friends and family of the deceased.
