With two crashes in Hamilton leaving people with serious to critical injuries occurring within minutes of each other, Police are urging motorists to ensure they and their vehicles are fit for the road.
Waikato Road Policing Manager, Inspector Freda Grace, said emergency services were called to the first crash scene, on Bruntwood Rd Tamahere, about 8.25am.
"In this crash a motorbike collided with a car leaving a male motorcyclist, believed aged in his forties, suffering serious to critical injuries while one person in the car receiving minor injuries.
"Both were taken to Waikato Hospital by ambulance and the Serious Crash Unit is working to establish the cause of the crash."
A short time later emergency services were called to River Rd in Queenwood after a car driven by 38-year-old woman, who is believed to have suffered a medical episode, left the road and collided with a tree.
"This woman suffered serious injuries and was also transported to Waikato Hospital by ambulance.
"While we're yet to determine the circumstances of this crash we can reflect that this is the second serious crash this month where existing medical conditions may have played a contributing factor. Police urge any road users afflicted by medical ailments to ensure they adhere to any medical advice or any restrictions related to taking medication and driving least they put themselves or others at risk."
