Police can confirm they have recovered the body of Lance John Murphy from a rural property in Wellsford.
This is a devastating outcome for the family of Mr Murphy and our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. They are being supported by Victim Support and our Family Liaison officer.
Police have arrested and charged a 51 year-old man with murder and he will appear in the Manukau District Court this morning.
Detective Inspector Uraia Vakaruru would like to thank the media and members of the public who came forward with information and assisted Police with their enquiries.
The focus of the Investigation is now on locating Steve Gunbie. The 37-year-old has a warrant to arrest for failing to appear in Court on a charge of driving whilst disqualified.
He is believed to have access to firearms and should not be approached.
