Police have confirmed that one person is deceased following a helicopter crash in North Canterbury this morning.
The deceased was the pilot and sole occupant of a Robinson R22 helicopter which crashed just before 9.30am, inland from State Highway 1 near Domett, south of Cheviot.
The helicopter had been spraying in the area, and the incident was called in to emergency services by the loader driver.
The pilot was pronounced deceased by ambulance staff at the scene. No details of the deceased are available at this stage.
The Civil Aviation Authority has been notified of the crash.
