Police would like to reassure the community after two rival motorcycle gangs engaged in a fight in Templeton, Christchurch yesterday.
The incident occurred at the Mike Pero Motorsport Park in Templeton, where members from both gangs were watching motorcycle racing.
The event was without incident for several hours until a new group of people from one of the gangs reportedly arrived and a fight ensued.
A number of gang members were involved in the altercation and some of them ended up hospitalised with injuries ranging from moderate to serious.
“This was an isolated incident between these two groups of people and did not present a risk to the general public,” says Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Cottam.
“However this behaviour is very concerning and we would still like to hear from anyone who has any further information to share.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Christchurch Police on (03) 363 7400 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
