This afternoon, Central Otago Police responded to reports of activity involving a person travelling through the area in a vehicle.
Firearms were believed to be involved.
As a result, the Armed Offenders Squad from Dunedin was deployed.
The vehicle was sighted and then stopped by using road spikes in the Cromwell Gorge.
A male was apprehended. The 42-year-old, who is transient, is currently assisting Police with our inquiries.
Those inquiries are continuing, and there is no further information available at this time.
